"Lopez" Circa Winter 1971
Original painting is on a mockup Paipo. Measures 18" x 40". This piece is based on the iconic photo by a young Jeff Divine during his first winter on the North Shore of Oahu. He was photographing the "Expression Session"- what he dubbed the first "free surf exhibition with basically all of the best surfers in the world at that time". Pipeline was perfect for an entire day and he captured it all.
Jeff is one the most recognized surfing photographers of all time. The photo appeared on the cover of Surfer Magazine that same winter and almost instantly became the most well known photo of a surfer on a big Hawaiian wave.

This is my take on the incredibly famous photo taken by Jeff Divine in the winter of 1971-72 at Pipeline on the North Shore of O'ahu. It's for sale and is a must have for anyone who understands how iconic this image is of Mr Pipeline. Prints are also available and can be mounted by me on a custom paipo if desired.
